We exist to showcase women over forty, providing an authentic platform for narrative films that honor their truth, sacrifice, and resilience.

Mothers & Daughters

Julia has left her career to care for Thelma, her mother who has dementia. The demands of caregiving have strained Julia’s relationship with her daughter Diana. When Thelma disappears, Julia must face her limits and accept what she can no longer carry alone.

About the animation featured in the film

The character Doodle, who repeatedly loses her footing on shifting planes but always finds a way to pull herself back up, is the creation of animation artist Alma Magee. Alma’s work often grapples with themes of struggle, loneliness, and perseverance. Alma is a senior at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas and plans on majoring in 2-D animation in college.

I wrote Mothers & Daughters so that caregivers—especially the women sandwiched between children and aging parents—feel seen and know that the love they give is enough.”
